To date, digital traffic on Basque media websites has been measured exclusively through BEHA (GA4) and Matomo panels. They were also preceded by the Hekimen Analytics tool, which allowed the collection of aggregated data, but stopped taking measurements with the appearance of the GA4 system.
After spending the whole year developing a new model that would replace and surpass the old Hekimen Analytics (Behategia, Hekimen and CodeSyntax), the process of connecting to the new Behategia Analytics tool that measures not only traffic on websites, but also traffic on social networks and other media in the digital environment (e.g. newsletters) is underway. The first part of this connection phase is very advanced, 44 of the 73 means to be connected are already connected to GA4 (1 is operating with Matomo) and 22 are in the process of being connected; those that have not started yet with the connection are 7. However, there are more that are missing to connect to other sources.
Therefore, in the coming months, when these missing media are connected, the Behategia Analytics tool that will provide a full picture of the Basque media will be up and running in full performance. Each medium will have the opportunity to compare its data month by month with the rest of the media and analyze whether or not its trends are in line with those of others, living in an age of data, with steps in the exemplary practice of joining open philosophy and learning together. It should also be noted that this tool is built on free software and performs a re-appropriation of the data that is accumulated in the network on third platforms. It will also provide vital information for the measurement and analysis of the annual audience (this year’s analysis will be available in the Yearbook), as well as for monitoring.
